Great River School stages a fall play and a Spring musical each year, in addition to two plays at an off campus venue for the Theatre Intensive Program for 7th and 8th grades. Check out the shows below!
We’re wrapping up another very busy and successful year of Performing Arts at GRS! As we come to the end of the year, we congratulate and celebrate our students who have earned different accolades across a variety of performances.

With that being said, our year of performing arts still isn't over. Please make time and come enjoy end of year projects and performances by our students. Upcoming dates for performing arts GRS include:
Great River Dig’s The 70’s, a tribute to 70’s music and culture by having a variety of 70’s themed music, performed by our very own Great River students. Tickets are on sale RIGHT NOW! The performance is TONIGHT! Wednesday, May 6th at 7pm at The Amsterdam Bar & Hall.
IB Solo Theater Night, a night for the juniors in the IB theater class to show their work on an acting theorist of their choice. Happening Wednesday, May 13th at 4:30pm in the Performance Space! Enjoy their unique performances, it will be short and sweet!
IB Music Night, featuring both our junior and senior IB music students performing both covers of existing songs and potentially also original compositions written by members of the graduating IB music class! This is happening Friday, May 15th at 7pm.
Creative Expressions Night, which features our 7th and 8th grade students performing. CE: Instrumental will perform covers of songs while CE: Vocal presents a performance of four choral pieces. This event runs from 5 - 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 19th. You can also enjoy presentations from other creative expressions and buy delicious food from Urban Farm!
One Acts are directed and designed independently by some of our UA students! Don’t miss your chance to see three short plays on Saturday, May 16th at 6pm. This year’s shows include “Attempted Theft of a Confection from a Minor,” “Founding Fathers (Mothers),” and “Why Did You Bother Killing the Sea Witch?” Please note that the final one act contains some adult themes.
The Spring Vocal Music Concert on Wednesday, May 20th at 7:30pm is an opportunity for our high school vocal classes to showcase their talents. Chamber Choir will perform both as a full ensemble and in smaller ensembles. Our Advanced Musical Theatre class has 14 songs ready to perform, complete with original staging, costuming, and lighting all designed by students.
And last but certainly not least, come to our HS Musicianship Concert on Friday, May 29th at 7pm! This showcases our 9-12 grade musicianship and pre-IB Music classes as they perform a wide variety of covers from all genres of music.
