Great River School Theater Intensive 2023 Presents
Midsummer Night’s Dream (Rotation 3)
Written by William Shakespeare
Adapted by Hawken Paul
It’s the end of the year at Athens High School, and there’s only one thing on the minds of the senior class - prom night. As the “Athens High Undersea Jamboree” draws closer, Hermia, a young woman and student of Athens High faces an impossible choice: attend the dance with Demetrius at the behest of her father, or defy his wishes and risk expulsion to go with her true love, Lysander. At the same time, unbeknownst to students and teachers alike, the gymnasium where prom is to be held has become the battle-ground between two factions of sea-fairies and their leaders, King Oberon and Queen Titania. To make things even more complicated, a group of teachers at Athens High face the seemingly impossible task of rehearsing and performing a play in a single day for the prom celebration itself. Will Hermia be able to attend the prom with her beloved Lysander? Will the feud between Titania and Oberon ever end? Will the teachers be able to perform their show at prom without a hitch?
